Driving down the mountain in the rain is actually like some kind of meditation, a peculiar state of mind really focused on the moment, and not allowing any other thoughts to enter. Too many things to decide when I am down here, too many plunges still to take. But I’m dealing with things one day at a time.
I have to admit Besakih is one of those places where I go for taking photos. It’s time for the temple festival this month, when all Balinese will try to pay visit. Above, rainy day photos from yesterday, not many, didn’t want to soak the camera. Below, cloudy day from 2012. Even back then, I didn’t escape the downpour on the way home. It’s a spectacular setting on the slopes of giant Gunung Agung, mostly shrouded in a veil of clouds, but the touts and scams kind of diminish the chances for spirituality for me. So it’s a feast of colours.
