One thousand and one nights

It’s been a hot and gruelling day…. but I made it to a palace and mosque straight out of One thousand and one nights, as I would imagine the setting. Even the village looks like a medieval bazaar.

And then there is this giant, amazing mosque towering over the village.

Inside, a huge courtyard. And then…. wow, all around, how can you make sandstone and marble look like lace?

Not quite prayer time yet.

Again, there were lots of Indian visitors flocking to the grave of a saint here in the middle who can grant wishes. I didn’t make one, and now I feel bad about it.  – The tomb is all in white marble, with delicate windows.

It’s an auspicious day for weddings today…. which means marching bands, generator-powered chandeliers, and grooms on adorned white horses. Plus fireworks. And traffic jams….

If you are already bored of Mughal palaces, unsubscribe now 🙂  This is just the beginning.

I’m going to the Taj Mahal tomorrow morning!
